The copy that I looked at from the library was not a board book, but a hard cover. However, the book is overall the same. The book presents the Christmas story with a simple story line for young children to understand, while incorporating the alphabet. For example, "A's for Augustus, emperor of Rome, Who decreed, 'To be counted, let each man go home.'" Young children may not understand some words like decreed, but with a little explanation they should understand what is happening in the pictures. The pictures are very colorful and unique, appealing to little children.
