Handel: Who Knew What He Liked

Handel, Who Knew What He LikedHandel, Who Knew What He Liked by M. T. Anderson, illus. by Kevin Hawkes, Candlewick, pbk. 2004, (Also hc) 48 pp. Ages: 9-12

With wit, M. T. Anderson introduces us to the composer, Handel. Beginning with his youth, we learn about a determined young man who loves music and wants to share his love of music with others--against the objections of his father. This is an entertaining as well as informative biography. Who would have thought a boy could be so clever as to sneak a clavichord into the attic without his parent's knowledge?

The delightful illustrations blend perfectly with the story, creating both drama and a mischievous twinkle of fun.
